Imagination Can Take You Anywhere

We will be spending another summer stuck at home, it is the safest thing to do really. This new variant is sadly getting out of hand. Goodness knows what will happen if social distancing and mask wearing cease on June 21st.  In the meantime my imagination can take me anywhere.

I used watercolours for the background and to also colour the girl, and paper pieced her dress. I covered the chipboard toadstools with gesso and then watercoloured them too,

Hare Again

Well this lovely hare is back again! This time on an oval canvas, I think I purchased it in the Tiger store back in the day when we could go to the shops! Well I know we can go to the shops now, but we have decided not to. After being told to stay at home for over a year, I’m not going out shopping now when we sadly have a new variant nearby, even when  I’ve had both jabs.

I made this canvas for a challenge on Facebook. I used acrylics, to make the background, and watercolours to colour the hare. I also used some of my chipboard toadstools which I’ve been hanging onto as they are too nice to use, but I actually managed to use them ! It is silly to hold onto things, it’s fun to use them and then you can just  buy more :  )

I’m not sure what everyone else is going to do about the feedburner for blogger, I started to follow the instructions and it said to download 1,391 something subscriber  addresses most I suspect are spam. I didn’t want to do that, and you have to be so careful with other peoples data because of the data protection act of 2018. You can’t use or pass on peoples emails to others. There seems to be more and more problems with blogger every day, blogs seem to be old hat now  and most things are on social media.

Thank you for stopping by, stay safe xx

The forest at the bottom of our road, looking forward to the weather improving, so we can go for a stroll.

Just Keep Going

Just Keep Going, that says it all really! I used Prima Moulds and air drying clay to create the Carousel horses, and I made a simple canopy by folding paper and adding a few sequins.
Stay safe, stay strong, hugs xxx

Bah Humbug

This is most definitely not my own sentiment! I have made this for some one who is a real Bah Humbug person. I used a Christmas Carol stamp set, and stamped out the houses and Mr Scrooge, and coloured them all before fussy cutting and adhering them to my prepared canvas. I found an old fashioned lamp stamp too, and just in case things were not gloomy enough I added in Eeyore!

I generously used texture paste smothered with fine glitter for snow, and added a small twig as a tree. After stamping and colouring some holly leaves at the top of the canvas, I flicked white acrylic paint over the scene as falling snow. Of course I did not forget to add the large Bah Humbug sign to the tree!

Thank you for visiting xx

Wish Upon A Star

Hello how is your winter going ! Well it feels like winter here! Let’s hope the warmer spring weather arrives soon.

I was  thinking of warm summer evenings when I created this small canvas. I used a lovely new stamp set from Hero Arts called “Wish I Might” . I actually like the way this canvas came out, which is a very rare event, as I don’t like a lot of the things I make.

I used Brushos to create my starry sky and the grassy ground. After stamping the doggie with black versafine , I fussy cut him , of course being very careful not to nick him! A trimmed piece of little bark made a nice seat for his swing, and I  tied it up to the tree branch with thin string. I finished by embossing stars,  and the sentiment to the sky and adding  pressed flowers to the garden. I have a lot of pressed flowers, the Forget-Me- Nots are finally coming up in the garden so I will be  collecting and pressing them soon.

I also crumbled up some dried petals and adhered them to the bottom of my canvas  along with a few little stars to add some extra magic

I hope you like this little magical canvas, and let’s hope that the  sun and magic will arrive with us all soon.

Thank you so very much for paying me a visit. Take care xx

Alice and Mad Hatter Canvas

Hello, I am back in Wonderland today, probably the best place to be!  Today I am sharing a mixed media canvas featuring Alice and the Mad Hatter.I used Paperbabe templates for the bow, hat and clothes, and drew the facial  features. Of course I  used my favourite watercolours on everything!

This is one of my most favourite quotes by Lewis Carrol “Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality” So I was thrilled to see it as a stamp at Lost Coast Designs.

I used several gorgeous Alice collections on this canvas, Bo Bunny and Echo Park. Have you seen the new Alice collection by Stamperia, it is stunning!

Thank you for visiting today, hope to see you again soon. If you have time, please leave a comment so Alice and Mad Hatter know you were here!
I would like to enter this canvas into the following challenges, thank you.

An Autumn Collection

How exciting the lovely Sally Jarvis of Making Cards magazine has included this blog in her “Ones To Watch” thank you so much! If this is your first time here a very warm welcome xx

Unfortunately I have not been as active on my blog as usual due to problems with my arm. I am seeing a specialist at the end of November so hoepfully we can find some treatment.

I have created a few Autumn whatnots which are below. If you would like to be updated when I add something new to this blog please click on the become a follower on the left.

I used the gorgeous Bo Bunny Beautifully Brisk Collection which I was recently fortunate to have won. I used a box canvas and coloured it with  watercoloirs and Brushos. I also had fun using items from nature.

An Autumn Card using Aquamarkers to create the background.

A snuggled up Fox is happily sleeping on this card.

As I don’t have many craft projects at the moment, I thought I would share some recent photos. My friend is a trustee and he asked me to accompany him to an opening event, Michael Parkinson was cutting the ribbon, there were politicians and other “famous”  faces there. I have to admit I did not recognise them all, but everyone was very friendly and I had some interesting conversations. My friend was on the tv news luckily I wheeled away into a quiet corner!

Thank you for stopping by, I hope to see you again soon xx

Actually I Can

Hello how are you today? I currently have my right arm in a splint, but I am thinking of ways that I can still craft!

Today I am sharing this very, very heartfelt canvas, which I completed some time ago. I began by drawing a lady in a wheelchair and die cut her. I also die cut the words  “Actually I Can” I used a box canvas and created the background with  Distress Oxides. I also used several Indigoblu Stencils, the rose stencil is one of my very favourites, it is so gorgeous and easy to use! I used  Indigoblu stamps around the edges of the canvas. I stamped some of the larger images  onto copy paper -  tissue paper would have been better, but I did not have any so copy paper had to suffice!  I added some colour to the stamped images, and adhered them to the canvas.

I stamped and fussy cut paintbrushes and pencils from the Indigoblu Art stamps range. I stood some of them up in little glass jars, and added the others as embellishments.

Bee kind

Today I am sharing a very heartfelt canvas “Bee Kind”.

I began with a blank white box canvas, which is always daunting. My first step was to use a honeycomb die cut as a stencil and applied texture paste into it. I really should buy a honeycomb stencil as I think I would use it a lot so it would be a good investment. When the paste was dry I painted some light  brown acrylic over it.

More waiting time was needed so I heat embossed the bees in black, and coloured them. I added glitter to the wings, and fussy cut them. I use Spectrum Noir clear glitter pens, they are easy to use and give a lovely clear sparkle.

I used my Versamarker pen over the top of each honeycomb piece,  and sprinkled clear embossing powder over it.I  heated it up to give a glossy drippy  honey look !

After a light coating of brown paint over the canvas I used a sponge to dab on some rose and yellow

acrylic colours to the edges. I always spritzed my sponge with water first as it helps the paint to move more easily.

Chipboard Letters would have been good, but of course as always I did not have all of the letters to spell “Kind”. I used thin card letters instead, and painted them rose, and clear embossed. I attached some of the little bees to each letter

The canvas looked a bit bare in places so I stamped a script stamp using the light brown paint. Remembering to wash it immediately afterwards, have you ever tried removing dried acrylic paint from a stamp - I don’t recommend it : )

Thank you so much for visiting I truly appreciate it xx

Christopher Robin

Christopher Robin, Pooh, and Piglet are enjoying the Spring sunshine in Ashdown Forest. I removed  a page from  my "The World Of Christopher Robin" book, and adhered it to a small canvas. The branches wer ecreated with texture paste and detailed with paint.
After stamping  this lovely Pooh swing stamp I coloured and  fussy cut them. I hung the Happy group from the branches festooned with die cut blossoms.

Thank you for visiting us in Ashdown Forest today.

I created this page for the challenges below

Alice In Winterland

In the winter, Wonderland becomes Winterland, and Alice loves to walk in the snowy forest.

I painted the top of my 20cm (8inch) canvas with Iced Gem paint, and randomly painted on Snow White metallic paint on the bottom. I used the star stencil and Slap it On to add some raised stars to the top of the canvas and also painted those pink.

I used Archival Olive Ink pad to stamp the trees from the Winterland wood stamp set. I stamped the two distance trees without reinking the stamp, so it gave a more faded and distant look. I used white paint to add snow to the trees which was followed by flitterglu and white glitter.

I stamped and coloured Alice from the Indigoblu Alice stamp set, and stamped the bunnies in black Archival from the Winterland set. I fussy cut them all out and adhered them to the canvas.

I spread glass bead gel medium to the bottom of the canvas to give some glistening texture to the snow. When it was dry, I lightly added white paint to some areas.

I Die cut some snowflakes and stars in various sizes and covered them in Flitterglu and white glitter. I adhered them to the top of the canvas using sticky foam pads.

Thank you so much for visiting, I hope to see you again soon.
